I am really really happy to share with you a short Q&A with Danielle LaPorte from whitehottruth.com, a philosophical and insightful communicator who hits the nail on the head every time with her articles…
Danielle is launching a digital version of her Firestarter Sessions on May 12, details follow the interview!
1. From your bio you have accomplished some major things, blasting through theories and preconceived ideas that to do something, anything, you have to eg have a degree or lots of experience in a particular area (which is true for certain things, but not most things). How did you summon the moxy to go forth and do these great things? How did you overcome any doubts? And if you didn’t have any doubts, how did you get into that great ‘i can do it’ mindset?
Okay, this is so Oprah-cheesy, but, I’ve always felt like I was wired to do something great this time around. Now, what THAT is, has been a work in progress to determine. In my twenties, I thought I could WILL great things to spring from me. I was half right. Now I leave more room for mystery. I have more courage to be guided. I trust very deeply that life not only takes care of me, but that the whole divine system is set up for us to be…as great as we want to be.
Doubt is part of all art. You can’t get naked and not worry how you’re going to look. Courage is helpful. Passion is essential.
2. What three life lessons are you consciously living now?
INNOVATE.
Peel back.
There’s always, always more where that came from.
I’m learning a lot about friendship lately. How it can shape your life. How it heals. How it makes it all worth while, really. How I suck at it. Where I triumph in love. The shape of my heart. All the good fortune that’s out of my control.
The power of telling stories.
3. If you ever get in a ‘funk’, or feel a bit ‘wrong’, what fail-safe measures do you have to get ya back swinging from the rooftops?
I’m clear on how I want to feel. I’m in touch with what I call, my “core desired feelings” and everything is about generating those states of being. It become less about “getting” what I want and more about “creating” it.
Drawing with my kid puts everything into perspective. As does Rilke, some good ol’ Pema Chodron, and the Kings of Leon.
